Currently working on my old 1991 Cavalier. CV shafts, and sway bar links. One side down, one to go. I swear I’ve had to work on this car to much lately. I would rather be working on the C-54, but there is that little responsible person inside my head that nags at me “Hey…it’s not raining…the sun is out…you should fix your car…it’s going to rain tomorrow…and the next day…go fix your car.” [:P]
After fixing the car and finding something for dinner I went back to my bench. Got one coat of white on, did some sanding, and then added a second coat. I plan on sanding it down a bit again, cause I got a few splatters on the second coat. But I’m happy with the white. Next up will be the aluminum.
I’m going to let it sit and dry up really well overnight. Hopefully tackle the aluminum tomorrow.
Ok, so I lied…I did the aluminum. But I was so excited to see the results of my hard work I missed masking a spot underneath the vertical stabilizer![:O] Lol. Oh well. I can touch it up tomorrow, along with painting half the doors white, which I totally forgot to do earlier. This is what happens when I get to the point where I can start to imagine what its going to look like when done. I start to rush and forget things, or mess things up, lol.
Great paint work K! I hear ya about getting ahead of yourself. I usually do that when I’m masking for camo. I’ll see it in my head as I’m taping up…just to realize I’m taping the negitive of what I want! LOL!
I too think you’re doing a geat job on this kit! I’m very impressed with your first rescribing job - my first was a joke. Second try not so bad. Your talent is on display and it’s delightful to look at.
Toshi, perfect weather for modeling! We even have snow in the forecast over the weekend, ugh. I loved that F-15 kit! It went together so nicely! Thank you very much!
Eagle90, thank you!
1943Mike, thank you so much for the kind words!
I’ve spent pretty much the entire day working on this, lol. I just got in a groove, and kept going back at it.
Front landing gear
Wing gear. I did touch up the paint in that area, but forgot to take a pic.
All finished. My first time adding radio antenna wire. I could of probably used a thinner thread, but it’s what I had on hand.
On it’s temporary home. Don’t care for it being there, but that is the only space I can find at the moment. I’ll figure something else out soon. It might be time to start moving stuff from the museum(living room) to storage(bedroom). I can’t hand her up like most of my other 1/72 stuff, there is to many bits that would be in the way and would probably get knocked off if I tried it. Plus even with all the weight I put in the front, she’s still a tail sitter. Hence the little stand they give you.
Thank you to everyone for checking in on my WIP, and all the encouragement and advice, it is greatly appreciated!
Nice job on that bird. Painting is excellent! Glad you were able to overcome the soft plastic issue. It was definitely worth the work to fix it. I would not have known about the putty issue, so thanks for heads up on that! Thanks for sharing your WIP.
