Finally finished my Revell 1/48 Boeing B-29. I built it out of the box with the exception of True Details wheel set. It is painted with Alcald II (3 different shades) and Tamiya Bare Metal Silver. It took me about 100 hours to build over 5 months. The photo’s are taken from the aircaft ramp where I work. If it uploads, there also should be a cool video that I got due to the breezy day on the ramp.
I’m just starting the b29. Got some good photos this winter in Palm Springs. It seems that the wheel plates that hold the landing gear are a poor fit. Did you cut down the bulkheads to get a tighter fit against the underside of the wing? Any other special warnings?
Hello madcitydave, No I don’t remember any fit issues with the landing gear other then a little cumbersome with the nose strut links, my fat fingers caused issues. The major headache I had was with the cockpit canopy… Once the fuselage was together the canopy didn’t match contour very well, in fact I broke the canopy trying to contour it. Contacted Revell and they sent me another free of charge…The other issue was I kept knocking stuff over on my workbench due to the size of the darn thing. Have Fun!!
Gaston, good to know about the canopy, thanks! I’ve got two lined up, sounds like a inexpensive modification. Leardoc, again, an inspiring nice clean build!
