Revell 1:48 P51D Blondie

I would really like to build this aircraft but I’m not sure if the kit is any good. Would I be better off just to buy a Tamiya kit if AM decals are availible for this aircraft?

I’ve not seen the Revell kit myself, but I seem to remember someone telling me that it’s an older mold and the detail is a little sparce. However, I have built the Tamiya kit and it’s a little gem! No problems there at all.

Hope this helps,

Darren.

Both the Tamiya & Hasegawa kits are superior to the older Revell/Monogram kit, IMHO. But that doesn’t mean that it can’t be built into a pretty nice model. Just takes more effort.

Regards, Rick

plus revell/monogram one is very cheap. at walmart for like 7 or 10 bucks.

now if this is beautiful doll it is a good kit. monogram era. fits well and good detail. if not i am sorry i cant help much.

Roosta that looks to be a newer offering to me. You can probably be pretty secure in its quality. If anything its probably a reboxed Hasegawa anyways.

yeah i didn’t take any notice of the boxing until the other guys metioned the older ones arent that great and then i noticed it was in the newer boxing so i think i’ll take my chances with it.

Well at any rate if ya take it slow it wont matter what the kit quality is… just build it [;)]

I agree with woodbeck. the P-51 is a great plane, build it

This kit is the old Monogram kit, I have it on the shelf (unbuilt). in my eyes it is still
a good kit, but if you want a “perfect” one, better choose Tamiya. But aftermarket decals for “Blondie”?? Anyway - this Revell Mustang is ok!

If you buy the kit, and don’t like it after you are done, save the decals to put on what you consider a better kit. If you can’t find AM decals llike these.
