I didn’t take any build-up photos of this craft as it is pretty much straight out of the box. The figure is from Verlinden. The paint scheme is different
from what is shown in the directions, I just Love those Yellow noses, and tails, although the letters are from the kit planes of this groupe did fly the yellow nose as is done on this model. All of the other letters are correct for this plane except the Blue “B”, and I just didn’t want to buy a new set just for a “B”.
All in all it was a pretty easy build no major warping or pin divots. I used MM enamel 70/71/65 but darkened the 71 some as I thought it too bright as per the photos I referenced. I coated with Future before decaling and after, then Flat coated with Testors.
Looks great! Your weathering is spot on. What technique did you use around the nose cowl? I remember doing this kit when I was a kid and have been tempted several times to pickit up again. seeing how well your kit came out I may have to give into the urge.

Hercmech, I just turned down my pressure and sprayed a gloss black in the areas of the powder blowback and around the cowl where the panels meet and are removed as the prop force would blow oil and crud out. add a little silver here ad there to simulate worn and blown off paint.
You make it sound so easy. Kinda like an old guy I kenw that when asked how he carved such intricate carvings he said’ Easy I just take off the parts that dont look like (fill in the blank)"

Hercmech, I just use a very dry brush technic and push on the brush pretty hard to fan it out in all directions, I tey to start at what I think is the center of the wear, so it gets the most paint and kinda spiral out from there and it gets less and softer as you go. Just keep in mind that it is a dabbing method not just a place and move. Hopefully this will help more. Also make sure you have the proper color laid before you start this process.
Yeah, my favorite LHS is going out of business and had this on sale for $8.00, so picked this up too. Looks like it will have to sit in the stash… for now.
