So this is my first build since I was about 10~12yrs old. I know its far from perfect, but im pleased with it. The Revell 1:48 was my first glue together model I ever did when i was a kid, so I wanted it to be my first “back to the club” bird. Im also very very partial to the Tomcat. Growing up I. Can remember watching Top Gun over and over and thinking how cool it would be to be on a carrier and launching those things off the deck. So… when I. Turned 18, off to the Navy I went! As luck would have it, I was assigned to one of the most historic and legendary fighter wings of all time… The VF-103 Jolly Rogers. Ive done my best for the supplies I have as a beginner to do this bird, so please be kind, but also tell me what i can do to be better on my next build. So without further ado… I’ll start with the cockpit.

Skip around to differnt pics of the WIP… All of the wethering was done with pastel chalk… its all I had to work with.

Ok guys, what do you think? Ill try to get pics qith decals on it , but i gave this bird to my dad and forgot the complete finnished pics… Thanks for looking!
Looks good, especially for your first build after a long layoff. I’m sure your dad is proud of it.

Hell, for your first build back in years…sure looks like you know what you’re doing! My first plane back wasn’t half this nice. =]
Ya, that looks super nice. Time off definitely didn’t hurt your skill any. Great job.
Nice build!

Very nice build.
Your F-14 looks good; and it looks like you are back into modeling. BTW, I hope that when I get to the “A” in my stash I can do half as good.
Man, that looks nice!
Looks really good !
Are you kidding! First build and that’s the result. Makes me want to give up now.
well done!!! I1m building a f-14D Super-Tomcat in 1/72 from Revell as well. I will send some pictures shortly. Keep walking…
An excellent job after such a long time away from building. How can you improve your builds? Build more and get more practice under your belt.
Whats next?
Nothing to say but, keep up the great work.
Looks fantastic, I’m hoping first build after a long layoff turn out as well!
Thank you very much… everyone! I meed to learn preshading, and airbrushing. I forgot to mention… lol. That bird is spary painted with walmart 99cent grey primer paint. (: On the table for construction right now, i have a 1:72 Hasegawa F-14A (converting as much as possible to a D) And a 1:24 AMT 72’ Chevy Nova. Thanks again to everyone for the kind words.
Very nice work!
Wow! That is quite impressive for your first build back from your hiatus. You need to be commended on turning out such a nice build by using what you had available. Very nice use of the pastel chalk. I use pastels quite a bit on my models. I’m looking forward to your next F-14. I’m with Stik there in that just keep building and participating here on the forums and you’ll be turning out beauties in no time. Thanks for sharing.
That aint bad pal. Aint bad at all.
That looks very good. Wait till you start playing with the air brush! Welcome back to modeling.
Nice work, and a great re-opening act! Definitely something to be proud of.
Thanks for sharing the pictures with us.
