Just pick up this kit for a song on Evilbay. Still shrink wrapped! Am 99% I’m going to add some AM landing gear, but also noticed resin AM air scoops available, there only 6 bucks. Anyone know if the air scoops with the kit have issues that this would fix?

My guess would be that they are hollowed more to scale that the kit.
Looking at the picture of the resin set, I would say the fuel dumps are a big improvement over what I recall the kit parts to be like.
Generally, the intent of resin parts like these vents and scoops is to give a closer representation of scale thickness to the inlets and their walls so that they look closer to scale sheet metal thickness than styrene can reasonably achieve.
Quickboost is good stuff and you can’t go too wrong with the price.
I have built this kit a couple of times and I enjoyed every minute of it. Granted, I build a lot of these older kits and am familiar with their quirks. If you are up to it, the landing gear can look really nice with some careful clean up and a little wire for brake lines and such. The inlets are definitely thick but are not terribly noticeable to me once finished. Being a bit of a frugal modeler I do not use much after market stuff but Quick Boost is a good value in my opinion when I have opted for retail detail.
Don’t really think you can go wrong either way. Enjoy a fun classic kit!
A quick beveling-job with a sanding stick on the leading edges will correct that too…
Some of y’all are really making me want to (temporarily) abandon my “No Post-Korean War Suck-Jobs” policy and grab the entire set of Revellogram “Century Series” kits (again. Haven’t done any of them since the 80s))… 'Course then I’ll have buy two of each in order to do both the Cold War BMF’s AND the SE Asia camouflage schemes…

IIRC, the kit scoops had some easily-filled sink holes in them, and the resin bits will save you the trouble of drilling out the scoops.
The landing gear is nice and strong, although the mains have an annoying way of attaching to the wings. I’ve got two that are over ten years old, and the gear has held up just fine to the vibrations of the dog & kids running through the house.
One trick I’ve learned on the kit is to cut the two bars that connect the intake ducts. This makes it a little eaiser to install them in the wings, and helps close the gap between the fuselage and the upper wing halves when you install the wings.
