What’s the word on this kit?
I haven’t heard much about it.

It was considered the most accurate Wildcat kit until the Tamiya 1/48 and Trumpeter 1/32 came out. It has the right shape but it’s from the era of raised panel lines and light detail. The Trumpeter kit is rich in detail but it’s also more expensive.
I have both and plan to have the Trumpeter as a wheels-down, cockpit-open display while I’ll back date the Revell kit to a F4F-3 (4 machine guns and no wing folding mechanism) in-flight display.
The most glaring detail abscence for the Revell kit is the landing gear assembly. Here’s a link to an excellent build of the Revell Kit:
