Revell 1/32 Corsair

I’m looking into buying the Revell 1/32 F-4 Corsair, however I would like to know how the details are on it, and how good the fit is.

Thanks,
wetmonkey

The one I built years ago had a pretty good fit. Every thing lined up fairly well. It has raised panel lines, if that is a concern. It could use more detail, especially in the cockpit. It has been around a long time. If the one you want is new production, there might be a concern as to how well the molds have held up over the years.

I’ve seen it two days ago in shop but friend told me that is too old …have some mistakes (think that weel bay is placed few mm backward and so on) and that needs too much pe and resin sets to make great model [%-)]

I just finished that kit a couple months ago. Althoght I’ve been haulin’ it around in a box for 18 years it went together farily well. Don’t try to fold the wings; it’ll drive you crazy and won’t work anyway.
My kit (#RM5781) was for the U-1A and built as Boyington’s ‘Lulubelle.’
I’ll try and send pics if I can get’emt of my Cannon album. I REALLY need help doing that![banghead][banghead][banghead]

I just finished a Revell Germany one. My opinion on it was not very high. The plastic is soft, the fit was horrible, and the details noexistant. I thought I took all the warp out of the wings put now I’m seeing stress cracks.

I would pay a few extra dollars and get the Trumpeter kit.

Here are a few pics, sorry about the quality.

[#ditto] although I built mine many years ago I still have it and I have to agree with the others. Raised panel lines, minimal detail and I had problems with the wing to fuselage fit. By the time you add all the necessary PE you might as well have bought a nicer kit. I built mine with the wheel wells closed and hung it from the cieling where no one can get too close. If thats all you want to do with it then go for it.

What did you expect from a 35 year old kit! It was nice for it’s “day”.

I have the revell germany kit and have been working on it now and then for a while. In it day I’m sure it was an awsome kit but it really doesn’t compare to what’s available now.I added a verlinden cocpit to mine that I must say was awsome. It made all the difference. It still builds into a reasonable plane as long as you’re not worried about it being perfectly accurate. The fit on mine was reasonable for it’s age and could be handles by someone with mild skill level.Since the kit is fairly cheap,it’s a good one if someone wants to try adding some minor details for the first time like engine harness.
I did mine with the wings extended simply because I didn’t feel like trying to scratch build all the detail for folds. When this one is finished,I’ll probably try out the new trumperter version also.
