I’m working on the Revell Type VII C/41 kit and didn’t get and pictures of the hull construction but I did get photos of the hull painting though. Paint used is the Life color Kriegsmarine paint set part 2.
I did readjust the paint job at the front to bring the line down to where it’s supposed to be so it really didn’t take long to fix.
Mike your sub is looking good. I tried one of those Revell subs ages ago - Gato class maybe? Anyhow I had too many issues I couldn’t deal with back then. Looking forward to the rest of your build. Your paint/colors look really good.
I painted the deck and installed the snorkel. After the glue dried I glued in the deck onto the hull. I have to wait on the rest till I build and paint the conning tower before attaching that to the hull. Revell failed to add the kit supplied ladders to the instructions but I went and added them.
I’m working on the conning tower right now I even took the leap to build up the rails so they can be removed for painting so that they can be put back in once the painting and assembling of the conning tower before gluing the tower onto the deck.
Those U- boats look so menacing, yours is looking good.
If I could provide some constructive criticism/recommendations, try cropping your photos down before posting. It’ll remove all the background clutter and focus on your project. Otherwise, the sub is looking good!
I went and weathered the hull. Rust is from the Tamiya weathering set but before that I did oil washes with white then burnt umber to get the hull looking a little grimy. I think it turned out good has the look of a U-Boat that has been out a bit.
I went with a black wash using Tamiya black panel line wash and it toned down what I did yesterday plus added panel mottling which while not intentional is actually a “Happy Accident” as Bob Ross would say. Well now this U-Boat looks a little more lived in than it did before. I think when I do the conning Tower I’ll try replicating what I did on the hull for that.
