I like this scale!. I can put out about one a week and have plenty of room to display them. I did this plan OOB. I cut the flaps and the little parton the nose gear to show it on the catapult for launch. What is that called anyway? I painted the flight deck from the Dragon EA-18 kit using the color call-out from that kit plus added some extra color based on other builds I’ve seen of this deck. I can’t acount for true life accuracy but I had fun anyway. The deck crew are from the Dragon kit as well. Thanks for looking. Chris
I’ve been very impressed with Revell’s 1/144 Starfighters, Hornets, Tomcats, and Tornados. Now if they would just branch out a bit and give us a new tool Phantom and Viper, I would be one happy camper. The only problem is that there are very little aftermarket decals out there for this scale.
Another Giant Penny Scale winner there, mate! I liked that kit as well and thought it went together like a dream. The only glitch I had was the seat sitting a bit too high, had to do a little post-cockpit-assembly sanding to get the canopy to go down, but that was probably due to something else I’d done! I went whole hog with the control surfaces and did the stabilizers too, which was a bear to get them lined up. I think yours looks better, overall. Mine was a custom build of a specific aircraft for a friend of a friend:
Very nice! I like the weathering you did on the deck, mine is seriously lacking. That wasn’t my focus though but I’ll weather it some as I plan to use it to photograph other kits on as well. Your Hornet looks great as well. I think moving the control surfaces is a must and really sells it…for both of us. In a larger scale I feel there are just too many cuts to make to get an accurate look. I didn’t have a pilot so I took the seated tractor driver and cut the legs and thinned the bottom so he sat fown in there far enough. I should have took a pic before I put him in. I used a piece of wire for the oxygen hose. I want to find the Dragon KA-6D / F-14 and do them in a in-flight refueling dio. I’m so used to sitting planes on there wheels I just don’t think about in-flight stuff much.
