Revell 1/144 Boeing 747-8 Lufthansa

I am a complete newbie to aircraft modelling, and have never built a model of any sort before, but I have always wanted to, so when I finally got a model as a birthday present, I was really hyped, until I saw the level. Revell Stage 5, hardest of them all. Well, after a lot of preparation, building, glueing, painting and ‘decalling’, I have finally completed this plane, and it is huge, 55 cm in length. I know it’s not perfect, and there are numerous things that I could have done to improve, but, mainly because my standards are pretty low, I think it is pretty good. Thanks to all the advice that you guys have given me and don’t be afraid to tell me what you think of it.

P.S. There are multiple images so I have provided an Imgur link

Hi,

That looks nice, how long did it take you?

Pat

Looks good to me. Did you hand paint the plane? If so what paint did you use for the white? Jet liner models are tough to build and one can spend many hours sanding, filling, painting, sanding and more top coats for a smooth glossy finish. My approach is there are too many builds and not enough time so keep it simple and be happy with your work. There are many more models to build and for jet liners a ton of liveries. Once again good job especially if you hand painted this bird.

Thanks for replying, it took me 4 days to do, with a little bit of help from my dad

Yes, I did hand paint the plane, and I used Revell White Gloss #04, and thanks for liking my work!

Hi,

Cool. Now the hard part is finding a good place to display such a large model.

A very impressive, especially as a first effort! Patience and persistence are far more important to model-building than any ‘official’ skill- or difficulty-level, and it looks like you’ve got a great handle on both.

Welcome to the Forum, and the hobby. I hope you keep enjoying both. Thanks for sharing your work!

Greg

Thank you so much!

Only just fits on the table!

For your very first model, I am most impressed with your build. Eventually you can (As an idea or a suggestion) upgrade to a spray can then onto a airbrush (AB). Keep on building, you have a great eye for things. Good luck on your projects!
