I have just found the time to build a model of the Heller 1:100 Le Soleil Royal I purchased 40 years ago. It’s been in my shop a little while. Now that I am on the rigging, I discover I don’t have the required spools of black rigging. I only have spools of 0.3, 0.6 and 0.9 light brown. I don’t even know if the size is in millimeters or not. Can any of you folks help me with this issue. I don’t even know where to start looking.
If you go to the “Ships” section of the forums, there are a lot of members there that could help you. I build ships too as you can see by my avatar but I am not what is known as a rivet counter. I build what used to be called “Stand off Scale”. You back off about 10 feet and say that looks great to me.[;)]
Just to help a tiny bit, since Heller is (was?) a French company, the meaurements are in millimeters. And I do not know what .9 mm translates to in inches. It seems that my Math degree has expired after 40 years hanging in the back of the closet with my naval officer’s sword. I never used either one of them.
I am ordering more scratch paper to work it out, but the general idea is that there are 25.4 mms in an inch, so .9 of one of those mms is going to be somewhere slightly greater than 1/32".
