Modelers, are there any techniques to adding various patterned tread to tires? Ihe kit I’m building has lines running along the circumference of the tires and I know that isn’t really accurate. Even if it was, is there a way to restore that if lost in sanding?
Thanks.
Buy the resin tires. If you’ve lost the tread during sanding, that means you probably have flat spots (plural) along the tread, which would be almost impossible to get rid of. I would pay the $1 - $2 for the resin tires.
Oh yeah - depending on the aircraft, circumferential tread is very accurate. Many aircraft have that type of tread.
I have used the razor saw to deepen or make new tread on tires. I bought what looked like a double edged razor blade that had two different sets of saw teeth on them that will make fine cuts. I wish I had bought a couple more. I had got it at the IPMS Nationals in Atlanta in “92” I think.
