resin

ok, i picked up a kit of resin figures that other day (Verlinden’s US tank/apc crew) and I’ve never done resin before. any hint, tips or things I should know about resin before I do anything???

Just make sure you wash the resin before trying to paint. Use a good primer, for figures I use Citadel White Primer, but any similar product will work. If assembly is needed use CA or epoxy, as regular plastic glues won’t work. Other than that, just paint the same as any figure.

If you don’t have one get a razor saw-the resin’s so brittle a saw is better than a razor-files are good too!

And make sure to wear some sort of mask!!! You don’t want to be breathing that stuff!!!

Also look into “pinning” to make the joints of your figure stronger.

CA will hold the figure together till you apply force to the joint and than it will pop apart.
Resin is a fairly soft medium CA dries rock solid, use it sparingly as CA is hard to clean up if it gets in the way.

yeah, I knew about the health risk. I’ll probably do sanding, etc. outside.

M1A-don’t worry about the health (cough!!) risk (wheeze!!) it’s vastly overstated! (Hack! Cough! Gurgle!)
