Resin?????

I just got the Planet models sd. anh 16 trailer and FAMO 18 ton halftrack for Christmas and as these are my first resin kits and they are full resin kits with so PE i was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions on how to go about “glueing” them together…

TIA

I would recommend using CA glue for this type of project.

A sharp hobby knife and patience are also required tools. [:D]

Also scuff up the brass before you apply the CA glue.

With a full resin kit, you will need CA accelerator (zip kicker) to quicken the drying of some joints. I also recommend having CA glue debonder (fingernail polish remover) to remove stray glue.

Watch out for resin dust when you sand the bits. Nasty stuff for your lungs! Cut as much as possible off with knives before doing any sanding.

wet sanding is another way to help reduce the dust from the resin, and it helps to get a nicer finish on the sanded surfaces. I’d still wear a respirator though.

When glueing the PE parts, apply the CA glue to the surface you wish to attach the brass to, not to the brass itself. The reason for this is pretty obvious, if you apply it to the brass, it could stick anywhere, and probably will. at least if the glue is on the spot you want the brass stuck to, that’s the only place it can stick. Well that’s the theory anyway.

thanks for the help… but where can i get this CA glue and the CA excellerator??.

Local Hobby store should carry it. I use the Insta-Cure brand. It comes in different thickness’ . It works equally well on brass or resin.

Definately scuff the brass, if you don’t it will pop off at the most inconvenient time!
Wear at least a pollen/dust mask or wet sand when sanding the resin parts, the dust is as fine as talcum powder and nastier to your lungs.

thanks for all of the help
