I am trying to find out how many modelers go for resin parts.
Sorry but this is only directed those located in Manila, Philippines. Thanks for checking and feel free to leave a comment though! [:D]

Oops!
Sorry, I voted, but I’m in Japan. Didn’t read the replies till after I voted (you get the poll first when you open the topic).
Suggestion:
If you want to limit the polling to Manila modelers only, I think you should put that information in the topic title and in the poll title itself!
Good luck with the poll.
All I’ve ever bought was weighted wheels for A/C. Three sets and will probably only use one set for a halifax. The others are for an F4u and I’m not very inpresed with the quality.
Oops … I voted too before I saw that you had it geographically specific.
As far as comments go, only if they parts will improve the model or convert the model to something unavailable otherwise.
Would need to be something I feel I can not do without lots of aggravation such as a wing or something like that!
yeah, I voted before I saw the first post
I’ve only bought a small sheet of photo eched brass for the grills on German Armor. I never have bought a resin thing ever, just a little bit of photo eched brass that I specially cut and glued to the grill, but thats all.
I also voted before I saw the first post…
Me too. Didn’t realize I lived in the wrong country. . .
I love my resin, I love my PE, but I try my damndest to stay away from those Black Box Prices!!!..DAMN, I voted before I noticed the Geographic necessity…you should probably do the poll a bit differently, because most people vote, and then post. So subtract one from “always but price concsious”
haha, I voted before I read the poll as well
Ah well.
Anyways, as to your question, basically, I"m not really an interiors kind of guy, so for me resin is usually a waste. As for PE, I like it, only because of the fine detail, but I’m very very very reluctant to buy anything aftermarket for any of my kits, so it’s usually a no
I have been buying resin stuff and PE quite a bit lately, (some probably unnecessary) just to get used to working with them. Once I am confident in my abilities I will buy only what I need to improve the final product.
DOH!!! Subtract one from “sometimes but price weary”. I do enjoy most resin sets
that can add that extra oomph to a project, but I really hate spending some heavy bucks on stuff that isn’t any better than whats in the kit. I like to find out about a companies castings prior to buying and weather or not I think it’s worth it.
Uhhh, sorry, mate. I voted before I saw your post about specific geographic locality…
I voted “sometimes but price wary”…so subtract my vote from your totals…
I personally like to add resin/PE parts to models - but I’m rather careful about what I buy and the project I’m putting it into. I really have to have a passion for a subject before I decide to spend $60 on a kit, $45 on a resin set, $25 on a PE set, and $15 on a set of decals - turns a basic model into a real money pit…
I’ve done that with a 1/48 Hasegawa P-51 and the Accurate Miniatures B-25 - they’re both very good kits. But I wouldn’t spend that kind of money buying aftermarket stuff on an average quality kit. Takes too much effort to make an outstanding model.
Quilty (often but price wary). I build many resin and white metal kits and also in the past did many transformation kits as well. Resin (and P/E) is a medium I’m well used too and as I prefer to make my kits look different I often resort to resin or white metal aftermarket accessories or scratch build myself. I would love to get the new aftermarket kit for the Tamiya 935 but the $550 odd price tag has dampened enthusiasm somewhat.
Yeah. I did what everyone else did. Sorry.
Seems like I made a mistake here… I’m very very sorry. [:I]
But I love the feedback. Very useful insight! Im doing this because Im trying to look into a possible venture. Resin parts are very expensive here, and if possible I would like to start a garge company here. Cheap but good. [:D]
Again, thanks to all the replies! [^]
I did it too, voted first[oops]
I buy aftermarket when I see something that I like for a kit I already own, which is almost always. Price is a factor, until I start building the kit.
