I haven’t seen anything marked in stone, more speculation I suppose. The fact has carried over to ebay. They are listing them as OOP and they are selling at very inflated prices, more so than when they first hit the market. If it’s true that they re-release them, there will be some sad ebayers out there.
The long-running word in the street is that if it is re-popped, it will not be in the 3n1 super kit config.
I’m still in awe of the kit, and surprised that this or the Initial were ever released as DML kits, in that you expect this level of kit to be under their Cyber-Hobby boutique labeling.
The kit still intimidates me! Want to get a few more kits under my belt before I tackle mine.
How about kit 6269 the “Tiger 1 early” that Dragon has had in both the 2006 and 2007 catalogs? Great Models has it listed as “future” - and has for the last 6 months anyway.
I’m inclined to agree that if the Tiger Late is re-released, it will be a different package. The debut “3-in-1” kits set a new standard in the industry and DML did it at a loss almost certainly as a way to gain dominance in the market. I’ve built the Initial and it was a joy to build OOB…it’s not a “Super” kit in terms of the assemblies like the Pz IV B-C-D-E series.
There are others that go back even farther like their Ersatz Panther, Pz. III E, Sdkfz 251/ A, etc. I’ve seen others that literally are announced and within a fortnight are released.
Don’t hold your breath on the Tiger Early.
This rumour has been around for a bit now, but alas it is only that at present time; a rumour. Personally, I’d love it if it were true. I should have jumped and bought one when I had the chance, as there is no way I’d pay over $80 USD on average to get one.
