Reputable online sites

Hello everyone. I happened on this site by accident and am quite impressed with the members and wealth of informaton found here.
After a 20 year hiatus I have gotten back into modeling but there are not many stores in my area. Can anyone help with some online stores that I could order models, paints and other supplies from? I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Oh, yeah, Welcome to the Darkside, Glad you’re back

Welcome to the forum! Great list of sites already provided to you, they seem to get the bulk of people’s business from what I’ve seen/heard.

I can definitely tell you one to stay AWAY from…and that’s Discount Models. [:D] Better to keep this thread though for listing the good, instead of the bad. [B)]

Thanks everyone for the quick replys!

Stay away from Alanger, too. Their prices are great but their customer service isn’t. I got an ICM Luchs that was missing pieces, so at their request, I sent it back. That was in September and I have yet to get a replacement. They just ignore my e-mails and their phone number is a guys cell phone.

What… nobody said EBAY???

EBAY is the hobbyist’s friend. I buy, sell, trade on ebay!

Buyer beware, just like with online retailers, ebay can be a nightmare if the seller is an idiot. Read the terms, know what you are getting into, but you can find ANYTHING on ebay

Good luck

One of the best, customer service wise, I’ve delt with is missionmodels.com
They are the guys that make the EtchMate. Always personal and very friendly service.

Also, Welcome to the forum and back into modeling. You’ll find things have changed a great deal.

Good luck and have fun!

Welcome. I have experience with most of the sites listed. I don’t know why one person said to avoid www.discountmodels.com but I know the owner personally (he’s in my local AFV modelling group) and he makes the rounds of many major model shows/conventions. He’s a very upright vendor in my book.

Also take a look at these excellent AFV modelliing sites:
