Republic P-47D

Help!!!
I just acquired a 1/48 scale model of the Republic P-47D-25-RE from Tamiya, Unfortunately, the decals (although quite well done) depict a European Theater bird. I would like to model a Pacific Treater war bird, possibly from the 348th Fighter Group, either the 340th fighter squadron, 341st FS, 342nd FS or the 460th FS. These were all assigned to the 13th AAF. The only decals that I have found to date sre from Aeromaster and they depict a P-47N from the 318th FS. I have checked all of the web sites that I could find with no luck. Any leads would be helpful (I’m not restricted to the 13th AAF…although it would be nice) but would prefer the Pacific Theater of Operations.

did you check all of the superscale sheets? they do have tendancy to run the gambit

Sure did. No luck there, mostly eto birds

Here goes a crazy idea: A Mexican Expedicionary Air Force, 201st Squadron, 58th Group P-47D-30 that fought in the Philipines from june to august 1945.

The decals are available at Aztecmodels.com

These airplanes were natural metal finished, white cowling, with the US insignia in the usual places, but the mexican insignia in the oposite wings and green-white-red bands in the rudder.

Eagle Strike Productions # 48-163 has a P-47D from the 35th FG 5 AF that should work nicely.

Aeromaster did a sheet devoted to PTO jugs a long while back. It’s likely OOP at this time, but they have been re-issuing some of the older stuff as " best sellers" sheets. Or, you could always try evil bay.

Dear boats525:

Taken the “crazy idea” from SAWI, please try at:

The decals from Aztec are very nice and work well. I hope this helps you.

Best regards

Manuel

Try www.meteorprod.com They have a lot of decals on their web site. [alien]

I believe the 348th FG never received any bubbletop P-47’s. If you want to do a PTO bubbletop D you are pretty much confined to the 35th FG, 58th FG, and Mexican 201st FS. Also, both the USAAF and RAF had bubbltop D’s in the CBI.
