Was cleaning out some boxes in my rented storage and came across the pieces of a Classic Airframes P-43A Lancer. Not enough to finish the model (missing wing parts, engine etc.). This is an interesting bird and was wondering if anyone knows of a 48th scale P43 by anyone other than Classic Airframes? I remember this one was kind of a dog even for a limited run kit. Anyone hear of anything else? Rick “Marty” Martin
Hmmm… I did a little digging and couldn’t find any kits for the P-43A in 1/48 other than the Classic Airframes offering. Good luck with your search.
I believe Scott is right, Calssic Airframes is the only game in town for the Lancer. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on that kit for a year or so now, and I’ve looked all over, so I’m pretty sure that’s right. I’m not sure of the extent of your missing parts, but as it is the crossover from the P-35 to the P-47, I’m not sure if any spares from one of those two kits would be of any help to you…
Academy makes a very nice P-35A kit that’s reasonable in price.
the CA kit is the only game in town, i’ve too been looking for a p43 in 1/48. Even on ebay I can’t find someone selling that kit.
She is indeed a tough one. Just about every RAAF modeller is crying “My kingdom, my kingdom for a 1/48 CA P-43 Lancer”.
I wonder if they’ll bring out a new tooled version down the road, they seem to be doing a bit of that, I read something about another D.XXI coming sometime, so maybe they’ll bring the Lancer back, and in something less painful to build than the early CA stuff.
I have the kit in my stash, which I bought when first released. Haven’t got around to building it, but it’s very typical of the early CA kits. KInda coarse on detail, vac form canopy (only one, so don’t screw up), nice resin detail parts that won’t fit the injection parts, PE/Film instrument panel, etc. Decals for a 1941 USAAC & a Chinese AC. To my knowledge it’s the only 1/48 Lancer ever kitted as an injection model. There may have been vac forms or resin kits, but I don’t recall any.

Thanks all, seems like the Classic Airframes is the only game in town. I found the pieces from another kit I didn’t know I had. I think I can use the engine, wheels, and maybe some of the cocpit parts from the Academy P35A. Might even be able to build this thing some day. Since Trump likes to make strange A/C (Wellington, Gannett, Wyvernn, etc) maybe they’ll consider a P43 (LOL) Anyway thanks for the replies. Seems there are more peeps interested in a Lancer than I thought. “Marty” Martin
I doubt Trumpeter would ever do one, but MPM/Special Hobby might some day. Especially since they seem to be collaborating with CA these days.
