I need to fil and sand a seam on the turret of my DML M4A3 BOB sherman.
how can I replicate the cast turret look where I do my sanding?
You can use liquid plastic cement (I use the Tamiya glue in the jar). Just apply the cement to a small area, wait just a second for the plastic to soften, then “stipple” the area with an old medium size brush to create texture, I usually stop when the surface gets “stringy”, and the surface will level itself out a little. It takes a little bit of practice to get good at it. You can also use Gunze’s MR Surfacer 500 or 1000 using the same “stippling” technique. And last, you can use a grinding bit on your dremel tool and bounce it off the turret untill you get an overall rough surface. Then you coat the entire turret with liquid plastic cement which smoothes it out, or smooth it out with steel wool. Hope this helps.
