replacing lost nav light blisters

So after loosing one of the clear bits that are suppose to be the nav light lenses to the carpet monster I came up with this idea.

I dipped a toothpick into micro crystal clear canopy glue and with 3 applications built up what I think is an OK representation.

Painted red and green they actually look cool.

Great idea Theuns!! Many possibilities for this.

This is exactly what I do to make the anti collision lights on 1/200 airliners.

It takes a few applications to get it built up, but work well.

I even used it to replace the vortex generators onmu 1/48 Airfix Hawk 120. I simply make an elongated “blob” and build it up aswell.

Neat tip. But here’s one for defeating the carpet monster.

  1. Locate vacuum cleaner

  2. Attach hose attachment

  3. Place some form of fabric over end of hose (sock, shirt, stocking, underwear…as long as you still get suction.

  4. Suck up carpet…find lost piece clinging to fabric.

Problem is that we have full tiles and when they fall they tend to scatter into all directions.

Yeah that can be an issue but I’ve used it on hardwood so it’ll work if you’re lucky.

The technique you’ve outlined looks very good though so no worries.
