Right now I’m building the Academy/Minicraft, Bf-109E (1/72) and one of the first things I notice wrong with this kit was the crudely molded exhaust pipes. What is the best way to fix this problem? I’m thinking about sanding them down and building new ones from scratch, but I’ve never built exhaust pipes from scratch before. lol I don’t know what to do…. Any help is appreciated.
I did a search on Great Models.com, and the Moskit exhaust looks really pleasing. It’s expensive, but I might consider it if I can’t find a way to make one. Thanks for your helpful reply.
If you’re thinking about buying the Moskit exhausts (highly recommended), discountmodels.com has great service and they are really nice to deal with–but if they don’t have them in stock (a common occurrence everywhere with the Moskit items), then you might try djhobby.com–I just picked up a set of exhausts for a Fw190D from them and they were the only retailer I could find who had them…they also provide great service.
Good luck! Would love to see the finished product!
For the past few days I’ve been trying to figure out a way to make a better exhaust for this model. I realized pretty fast that it would be too difficult for this scale. Moskit exhaust looks really promising and time saving, but for now I’ll have to put this project on hold until I can find the moskit. Thanks for reply and recommendation.
