Removing super glue????

I am working on an M41 Bulldog and need to remove some of the super glue used for filling. Is super glue remover safe on plastic? Any other alternatives? If I soak the model in Castrol super clean, or bleach white will that remove the glue? Any help is appreciated.

Acetone removes super glue. Super glue remover and nail-polish remover both contain acetone. (Although the nail-polish remover has other junk in it). Acetone is not friendly to polystyrene and will dissolve it. I don’t know what else will remove it without eating your Bulldog [sigh]
I stand corrected, do what Eric said. I just tried some acetone on a piece of styrene and it seems to be OK, at least for a brief exposure, but I pretty sure it will eventually dissolve it.

route62, if you apply the acetone carefully to the glued areas and work it as it loosens you can do it without harming the plastic. Just don’t soak it or drown it.

Eric

I hope you are able to remove the super glue with out damaging the model route62. Good luck.

If you ever need to seperate parts though just pop them in the freezer for a while and the glue will come apart, i’ve used this a time or two recently.

I’ve used super glue remover several times, and have had no ill effects from it. Squirt some on, soak for a few seconds, and they pop appart nicely.
