What’s the best say to remove a smudge from a windshield? Was wearing gloves (nitrile), had fresh clean paper on the bench, and was using all clean tools while masking and still have a smudge in the middle. I’ve heard of using toothpaste to polish it, any particular one that works best? Any other ideas?
In the past, I’ve used regular Crest toothpaste. I would use a cotton cloth wrapped tightly around your fingertip. You only need a small amount. Apply in a circular motion. I’ve gotten good results.
Have you tried Deluxe “Looks Like Glass”? It’s easily available in major model stores. Just dip any plastic windshield or canopy into it and it comes out crystal clear, even if they already look fine, they will come out looking really like glass. But remember, just dip it in for a few seconds, take it out and let it dry for a couple of hours on a clean sheet of paper and voila you have it as brand new.
Here is the producer’s description:
Looks Like Glass is a super- thin, water- based, transparent fluid for the creation of a smooth glass-like effect on kit plastics such as clear canopies. Plastic parts are simply dipped and allowed to dry for 2-3 hours. Surface detail is retained. Looks Like Glass can be used for the following modelling applications e.g.
Glass like finish on canopies, windows etc.
Adhesive for clear windows
Creating a wet look on plastic
Sealing scatter
A super- thin smooth plastic varnish to assist transfer application.
