I’m redoing an older model, and plan to try tinting the windows. Many years ago I simply light brushed silver enamel on the car windshield. Now I want to remove it and try a tinting process.
What have you used to remove enamel on something like clear plastic?
You can try immersing it in something like Super Clean and see if that strips the paint. Super Clean won’t harm plastic, clear or otherwise, and is an effective paint stripper. It might take 24 hours or more, and require some scrubbing with a toothbrush to get it completely off.
If not, sand it off starting with 600 or 800 grit and use increasingly finer grits until it’s clear again and as free from scratches as possible. I use a sanding pad set that goes up to 12000 grit. At that point I’d dip it in Future, or before doing that even using a finishing product like Novus to remove any remaining fine scratches then dip it in Future to make it crystal clear again.
