Some time ago, I did an F-16C with decals for the Colorado ANG. I was a bit green at the time and didn’t really prepare the surface correctly, and I had not learned about setting solutions and such. The results were of course extremely silvered and looks hideous. Is there a technique to safely remove decals without destroying the paint below? I hate to strip the whole thing down and repaint as you know what a task that is. I thing if I could do that and a fresh gloss coat and new decals, I could salvage the plane.
Rub down some masking tape over the decal…pull. The decal should come off leaving the paint in place.
Sounds like a good idea-considering how silvered the decals are, it doesn’t look like much is holding them down anyway.
