I wasn’t sure if this was the right thread or not but does anybody know where I might be able to get a kit of any of the models of aircraft they use in the Red Bull Air Races?
I’ve been looking for these from time to time as well miker, no luck so far. Seems like a good kit option to me - lots of colours, wouldn’t be too big in 1/48 scale, most if not all of them could be produced from a common set of parts.
That is probably going to have to be a scratch-build! The Edge 540, MX series and the Extras all look similar, but are very different airplanes. The only kitted one I know of was Airshow Models’ Extra 300, resin kit in 1/32 scale. They have been out of business for awhile, don’t know how many of those kits they produced if any.
Any one of those, though, might be an excellent first scratch build, the shapes are fairly simple, and if you don’t try to model the engine, you could get one together pretty easy!
Scratch building may be a little above my pay grade at the moment…
