Red 5, Red 2...commence your attack run! WARNING-Lots of pics!

A short time ago at workbench far, far away…

Hello,

this is my first go at a sci-fi subject…so go easy on me!!

Two 1/72 scale Fine moulds X-wings built OOB with a home made display base. I was trying to re-create the Death Star battle at the end of episode IV.

This project is something I’ve wanted to build for a long time and I had a great time doing it! I know its not the same as the movie, but its something cool for my display shelf, thanks for stopping by and having a look.

Darren.

It’ll be just like Beggar’s Canyon back home…

Very nice! I really love it![tup]

For a first scifi build my only comment is dont do any more. Competition like this I dont need[:D]

Excellent work Daren. The way the piping and building lines run in the direction of flight gives a definite impression of speed. Next time try drybrushing/blurring the paint in that direction to break up the outline more gives an even greater expression of the world wizzing past your cockpit.

As for stopping by and having look, one of the best wastes of my time I`ve had all day. [tup][swg]

Cheers Gary[8-]

Really nice work all the way around! Your display is outstanding.

Darren- I can’t sing your praise enough on this one old bean! Outstanding work, I would be proud to display that one for sure!

Thanks for the pics, outstanding work mate! [bow]

This one DEFINATELY gets the O.T.T. from me! [tup][tup][tup]

Fantastic work! You really did a very good job on the X-wings and the base. Thanks for sharing your photos.

Regards,

Very nice, well done - especially for your first scifi subject. Welcome to the… dark side.

Hey, thanks for the welcome and the kind words![tup]

I really appreciate you comments, thank you very much!

Wow, very nice work!

I’ve had a similar idea in the back of my head since I acquired the FM Y-Wing but I’d like to do a trench scene, even though the Y-Wings didn’t attack alongside the X-Wings and FM doesn’t do a Darth Vader TIE Fighter in 1/72.

But enough of that, your diorama is simply fantastic. Kudos all the way around!

Many thanks Steven, I too want to do a trench scene with Y-wings, but I need to get hold of a second kit before I get stuck into that build.

I am already thining of the display base though…[:-^]

I’ve been watching that one progress. ( Lots of hidden pictures aboard the ship you know)

Glad to see it done in a most glorious example of expert craftsmanship! I am a big StarWars fan as well. Now all we need is for you to do a Princess Leia slave girl ( my favorite) and place her on the bow of the ship!

Thanks Aaron!

I had no idea you were a Star Wars fan too! Excellent!

aaron, why am I not surprised Princess leia slave girl is your favorite?[;)]

Wow!!! That is very cool Darren, had no idea you we’re into that sort of thing. I’ve always admired your airplane base’s but this one is way over the top [tup][tup][tup]

My kids and I just wathced all six movies over my holidays. It’s always fun to do that sort of thing with the family once in while.

Thanks Dave! I have been a Star Wars fan since '77 and have always wanted to have a crack at an X-wing dio in one form or another, I’m pleased with the way this one turned out.

[#ditto] Gets the imagination going doesn’t it?

[:P][:P][:P]

Sweet, really cool.

Terry.

As mentioned above…OUTSTANDING!

(Maybe some blast points on that turret)

I love it!

Many thanks![:)]
