Well I had this Tamiya Panther A turret in the spares box and decided to build a dio around it. when finished it will depict an emplaced Pantherturm in Italy in 1943-44 either around Monte Cassino or on the Gustav or Gothic line. I scratch built an armored box bunker for it using a set of 1/25 scale plans scaled down to 1/35. What do you think?

The only thing I can see is that you are showing your Pantherturm as a two story “fort”. Most pictures of these show it as being rather close to the ground, therefore being only a one story affair. These were usually made of reinforced concrete with the turret ring installed in order to rotate the turret. Think of how troops would use the gun in a tank using the turret basket. The closer to the ground, the better, to avoid being a target.

Eventually this will be emplaced in a dio and only the upper part and turret will be above ground, maybe just the turret. Still experimenting. also from what Ive read the concrete structures proved to be too labor and cost intensive and the Germans eventually opted for the prefabed steel structures that could be “dropped” into place and covered.
