Recommendations for A double Action...

Hi guys,

I can’t produce a fine cammo line on my 1/72 stuff with the Paache H. soo I think I need a Double action Airbrush.
Is there one out there that is about $50 but still good? and not a piece of junk?

What is a nice double action airbrush. what i am looking for is just a nice double action airbrush that is easy to use and semi easy to clean.

sorry if this sounds confusing.

Thanks for the help guys. [:)]
I am definetly not an airbrush expert, it is the one thing that can ruin my models sometimes, but then the next ime it will be fantastic.

Doesn’t sound confusing at all. You want the biggest bang for the buck [:)]

Omni 3000 (siphon feed) is about $60 from Dixie Art (www.dixieart.com) and the Omni 4000 (gravity feed) is about $70. That doesn’t include the hose, and it’s different from a Paasche, but I Think they are only around $8 or so.

I have both airbrushes and love them. Both are Badgers (Actually Thayer and Chandler, but Badger owns them now). The 4000 is capable of running at slightly lower pressure since it’s a gravity feed, and it’s the one I’d recommend for camo.

Thanks Music. Now i have to save up some money.

Getting an airbrush should be a one time purchase. Get a good one up front and you won’t regret it. Get a bad one and you’ll hate it and wind up getting another one. I have three Badgers (including my 2 Omnis). The first was a Badger 200 single action that I got many years ago. When I decided I wanted a DA brush I got the Omni 3000 because it was locally available and worked with the bottles and hose I already had. When doing the camo on my F-105 I decided I needed a gravity feed brush. If I had known in the beginning what I know now I could have skipped a couple of them [:)]

Another excellent choice would be an Iwata but I’m not sure of the model most modelers prefer. They are quite a bit more expensive than the Badgers though. I’m sure the Iwata clan will show up here pretty soon and tell you everything you want to know about them [:P][;)]

John, I think that I’m going to go with the Omni 4000 after some research & lots of questions here on the forum. Here’s a link where you can get the Omni 4000 for $58.41 for the airbrush or $62.59 with the braided hose. Of course both sets come with the holder, wrench, protective cap, manual, & storage box.

I’m probably in the minority here, but I prefer the cheap vinyl hose. I have both, but the vinyl hose is thinner and lighter and tends to get in my way less than the larger braided hose. It requires an adapter to adapt it to 1/4" NPT threads on one end for a compressor though since it has 1/8" connections on both ends.

Brian,

Be aware that this web site is just some guy selling Badger products so I don’t know what kind of service you will get. This guy comes into Badger in an old station wagon and buys lots of stuff to sell on his web site.

Mike

Just to make Musiccity’s prohpesy come true, i’ll reccomend saving up $105 cash dollars and purchase the Iwata HP-CS!!![:D] i stopped buying airbrushes when this one was delivered to my front door from dixieart. its the finest airbrush… and realize that i’m talking about my experience and no one elses…i’ve ever laid hands on. i had an old Paashce H and VL from my highschool days, then i purchased an omni 5000, then a badger 200G, then an Iwata HP-C, then the HP-CS!! out of all of these, the HP-CS is the finest out of the box. but i also love the HP-C after i converted it to a .4mm n/n combo. later.

[#ditto]

I’m with salty on this one. I had the Paasche VL, and now I’m the proude owner of the Eclipse HP-CS. I love it! I can do things that I could only dream about with the VL. It’s just so easy to use.
I never used Badger, so I cant tell much about it, but I always had the feeling that it equals to the Paasche. With the Eclipse it’s just feels a higher level.
Badger guys, I am only talking about the Crescendo and the singleaction, never saw an Omni before so please dont tear me up[}:)][;)]

get a revolution or a 100lg

Thanks guys, i’ll probably go with the omni 4000 for now. Sorry Iwata Fans, maybe in a couple a years, anyways I found it at bearair.com is this a good place to shop?

John,

BearAir is pretty good but I have never ordered an airbrush from them so I can’t say how they are in that respect.
If you want to call 1-888-499-6996 you can get 40% off any Badger product and the service is great. Make sure to ask them for the “Fine Scale Forum Discount” and they will give you 40% off any Badger product they sell.
If they don’t answer the phone then leave a message with a number and they
will get back to you within 24 hours.

Mike

does that mean you get 40% off 40%? [:D]

what desparation, trying to give away their products!![V][:P][;)]

Uh…No! [(-D]

Mike

so is it just 40% off?

Yes.

Mike

[:(] only… so how much would the 100LG be after? i cant seem to figure it out

The 100LG retails for $111. so your price would be $66.60 plus shipping.

Mike

Thanks for the Tip Mike, Thats a pretty big discount,.
I think somebody said that Thayer and Chandler is owned by badger. Would i get a 40% discount then? Or does it have to be directly a badger?
Thanks for all of the tips guys big help, I appreciate it.
