Just introduced myself over in the main room and thought I would share pictures of the two models I’ve been able to complete since starting back at this wonderful hobby.
This is the Tamiya Wildcat. Not exactly finished. I still need to paint the prob hub and add cables. One thing about this model that annoyed me was the tail decal. I hate decals that cover large surfaces like that. It broke into a million pieces as usual so I had to mask and paint the stripes.
Now, before any accuracy nuts call me out I will say this next one is the result of lack of patience. This was the first kit I’ve built in a few years and I got in a hurry with decals and tore some so the markings are from multiple airplanes. I put this model in my newborns room as decoration anyway. I’m sure he won’t notice
Looks great jdice, it’s always fun having to paint when a decal blows up. I sort of like the camo on the P-47, as far as “accuracy nuts”… our own “von Hammer” coined a better phrase “rivet counters” lol. At any rate [snWcm] and nice work.
Second, the builds look very nice… not to worry about total accuracy. There is no such thing as perfect. Besides, as long as you enjoy the construction / painting / etc., THAT is what matters.
Like the look of that Wildcat. Weathering is nicley done. Sorry to hear of your troubles but kind-of glad you painted the the tail, think it looks better than the decal would have[Y]
Thank you, and I agree about the tail. Took a little more patience and work but I feel it was worth it. Decals that cover an entire surface like that never like me.
