Really Nice Model Collection Seen...

… at the Malpensa Airport, Terminal 1, Milan Italy. Just got back. In a number of large glass cases they have hordes of very well done planes, ranging from things that look like early Wright Bros. era gliders to WWI, WWII, dirigibles, zeppelins, various era civilian aviation, etc. Don’t think they were all to scale, too bad. Also too bad is that I doubt anyone has cataloged it or put it up on the Web. Like a dummy I didn’t think about take any shots with my digital camera, until after I was airborn.

Yeah, same thing happened here with a short-term display of models in, of all places, the glass cases in the lobby of the Empire State Building. All different eras and types by modelers who were the regulars at a now-defunct LHS. I guess that was their last hurrah. Great looking models, though, and I shot none of them.

There is an Air and Space Museum in Hampton that has a fantastic permanent display of 1/72 scale aircraft of diferent eras. I’ve been going there for 25 years and am still impressed with them.

Regards, Dan

they have some really amazing models at San Francisco Airport - there was a really amazing cutaway of the Capitol building - I think. It was all made from wood and had an extremely high quality build! There were others as well.
