Re: Mich ANG F-89C Build

The model was a fairly easy build with a few exceptions. The wing to fuselage joint needed alot of attention for a good smooth fit. Especially when doing a BMF. Acryl Blue Glazing putty was used in quite a few layers and sanded smooth after each application to get a nice level and smooth joint. Fins had to be added to the tip tanks since the " C ’ model had the stabilizing fins. The fins from the tip tanks from an F-104 were the perfect size / scale. Plastic card stock was used. The rocket racks have to be removed since from all the photos in the books I have on the Scorpion do not show the C model with rocket racks. Be sure to use nose weight. The entire bird was sprayed with a mixture of Silvers from Floquil with the major percentage being " Old Silver ". Experiment using different silvers till you find what looks good to you. Use Floquil thinner if using Floquil. I shaded various panels using Testor Metalizers not really visible in the pics. A mixture of Floquil Gloss and Flat was used for the final gloss finish. Experiment with different proportions till you find what looks good to you. All my finishes are done using a Paasche single action AB or my Badger Double Action AB. I do not use rattle cans. Take time with these particular markins. A little tricky to apply.
