UNCLE.

Does anyone have any information regarding the razor saws shown in the September 2007 and October 2007 FSMs? In the September issue, the razor saw is shown in Paul Boyer’s article, “Hollis Hill’s Mustang I,” page 23. In the October issue, the saw is shown in Aaron Skinner’s article, “Up-Armoring Tamiya’s HumVee,” page 19.

I’ve checked on-line catalogs, my local hobby shops and at a recent IPMSA show - all without luck. Any comments on the saw’s usefulness?

I’ve been meaning to add one to my kit even though I’m pretty happy with my Atlas hobby saw.

The JLC is a very nice saw. I just got one myself a few weeks ago from Roll Models.

It’s nice in that it’s very comfortable to use, makes very thin cuts and has two different sized teeth on the same blade. BUT, it would be nice if they made one in the size of a #11 blade to get into tighter areas - or even just regular 90* corners. the shape of the blade doesn’t really lend itself to sawing all the way into a corner.

But, it’s still a great tool to have in the collection.

That’s pretty darn nifty, Marc!

How did you go about breaking the JLC blade? Did you snap it, cut it or something else? Also, is it possible to get replacement JLC blades is case something goes terribly wrong?

Grab the corner at this angle with wide pliers and bend the blade and it should snap clean. I got 4 corners off of 1 blade. I ordered and extra blade from Roll Models when I got the saw a while back.

I got mine last week (with a couple of spare blades - if it can be screwed up, I can do it!). Haven’t had a chance to really put it to a test, but the experimenting I’ve managed to do with it indicates I’m going to like it.

You are very welcome. I appreciate your business. They are very popular. Also you might want to use the spare blade to make a miniature japanese cabinet saw for sawing flush…just don’t pry with it!

LOL… I should have read this thread 1st about the Japanese saw. That’s just what i said in the other JLC thread[:D]
