Rated XX

Got your attention again, didn’t I?
This week’s kit review is up at http://www.SwannysModels.com and it’s the Douglas X-3 Stiletto. I built this about two years ago but since Lindberg has recently reissued it (again) it seemed like the thing to do.
But just to maintain ‘Truth in Advertising’ here are the two Xs.

Now I’m going to get back to work on the Goose.

Looks like XX means harnessed speed. They both look fast just sitting there!

I’ve always loved the looks of the X-3. Too bad it never got the engines that were intended. It would have really been something. Gotta like the cockpit hatch on the bottom of the fuselage !

I’ve heard horror stories about the Lindbergh X-3 and have avoided it like the plague. After seeing yours I may reconsider[;)]

Best read the review before pulling out that wallet. That picture is NOT OOB.

Cool! Thanks.

you tease. tricked me again. but the models look good too.

nice job swanny!! [tup]
funny how we are all sooooo transparent and lunge for the mouse when we see the “XX” label…err…well, at least i did…[:-^]

thanks for sharing,
nick

I did the X3 a few months ago strait out of the box. I had done the kit back in the 60’s. Nothing had changed. Not the greatest fitting kit and the cockpit and wheel wells were awfull. Lots of flashing to carve away.

Lol, well my dirty mind has brought me over here.
But while I’m here, might as well make good use of my time and read the reviews

Hayy Hayy…What the…Where’s the? I’ve been had! [}:)] Oh by the way those are some beautiful models Swanny.[:p][8D]

Editor sees subject line, has visions that we’ve been hacked by porn spammers, panics [:O], dives for link, is relieve to see…lovely models of sleek aircraft. [tup]

Humble fan chuckles, was wondering how long it would take for that to happen.
[:D]

surely you know swanny better??
or maybe you do know him better, and that’s why you lunged at the post with “delete” in mind?!![:0][(-D][(-D][(-D]

I at least expected to see some naked models… (NMF). Oh well… it was worth it to see those two. Looks good Swanny… I’ll be checking out the review.

Those two models ARE naked… underneath their paint.

But seriously now, that X3 from Lindberg, could that be the same kid, Revell brought out in the 80’s as part of a special series ? I believe the series was called Classic Collection or something like that. The X 15 was also part of this “collection” as were the Nike Hercules surface-to-air missile and the self propelled howitzer and a rather nice model of a launch tower with Mercury rocket.
