I’m currently building the above vacuform kit, and would like to pick some of you guys brains. Are there aftermarket props, engines and retractables for this kit or any aftermarket at all. I can probably incorporate them into this kit. I can pretty much scratch build the interior myself.
This is my first attempt at a vacuform kit and it seems to be going ok. I’ve had this kit for a number of years and have been intimidated by it. But I eventualy took the plunge and am now hooked on vacuform.
Any help and advise building this kit is always welcome, and feel free to add your comments on your own vacuform building experiences.
There is no aftermarket for the Rareplanes vac kit, however, there is an injected kit by Minicraft (#11654) of the PV-1 you could take parts from - or just build the Minicraft kit unless you are really wanting the vacuform experience.
Some generic items like engines and machine guns can be found from various sources. And maybe there is some AM for the minicraft Verntura that you can adept for Vacform.
I am currently building my third vaform kit. My number 1 tip would be to take it easy and slowly when sanding the parts. If you release the parts the right way from the sheet the you wil have less fit problems then if you have oversanded.
