The U.S. Air Force announced the Raptor will no longer be called the F/A-22. They have changed the designation to F-22A. They have dropped the Attack designation from the aircraft. The aircraft will still have the limited attack capability that was designed into the aircraft, but its mission has now been changed to Fighter.
It was also anounced that Langley AFB F-22A squadron will become operation this week.
