In 1/700 should I place my photo-etched railings right on the edge of the deck or set back a little?

I served on the USS Taluga AO-62 during Vietnam. The railings were just inside the side of the ship. That is 1/2 inch from the side of the ship

Jeff, look at my T2 thread for what it’s worth and I’d welcome any thoughts. I’m going to try to finish her this Fall.

M1- what looks right.

The gutter channel (bottom rail) should be located about six-inches inboard of the deck edge.

In 1/700, just barely in from the edge of the deck is fine. In that scale, even if it’s flush with the edge of the deck, who’s going to notice?
