RAF Kittyhawk Dive-Bomber

This is built from Monogam’s 1/48th P-40 kit I got at Wal-Mart.

I added a correct British type of bomb from an Arii Spitfire kit I have shashed.

Cool looking bomb, eh?

I painted this before Testors MM finally brought out the correct colors, using the recommendations that came with the kit.

Decals were nice.

Not bad for a day’s work.

I just finished the same kit last week with the Flying Tigers decals. Your’s looks way better than mine. Good job!

It’s not an easy kit to build.

For one thing one fuselage half had the rudder warped to where it was rotated 90 degrees.

Thankfully, they used flimsy, flexible plastic, so I started by gluing the front together, letting it set overnight, then using Testors regular tube cement at key points along with their non-toxic tube glue (it is much more forgiving) elsewhere, I then bound the rudder halves together with rubber bands, letting it dry overnight.

If I had the new Testors camo enamel paints sets I have now, I would much rather use them, as I did for Amtech’s P-40F:
