Radio Antenna

What is a good substitute for a plastic antenna one on a tank ? It’s going to break eventually. I saw something in the magazine about this and now I can’t find it.

I’d use thin piano wire, say .020 or .032. Many hobby shops sell music/piano wire, since the RC and CL guys use a lot of it. If you can’t find piano wire, then the .020 brass from K&S (also found at most hobby shops) would work. It won’t break, but will bend, whereas it is very hard to bend the piano wire. Drill a tiny hole with a tiny drill and pinvise in the existing base, and a daub of CA will hold it.

Thank you, Don. I really appreciate this.

Cat or dog whiskers work well for whip type antennas.

Hello!

I always use guitar string for that. It’s basically what Don said, just that you can get broken guitar strings from musicians playing guitar for free! Hope it helps, have a nice day
