radio aerials?

Being new to the hobby, i am wondering if anyone has any tips for making radio aerials for ww2 german afvs out of common household items. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thankyou.

Use left-over plastic sprues from your models and heat-strech them over a candle.

Whisker off of a vinyl paint brush cut to length. Something I’ve used for years. One $0.99 brush will last a life time.

I agree with Shermanfreak! Especially if they have to be bent and tied down. There is very little stress involved with the bend.

stretched sprue is pretty common. you can use guitar strings too.

Just know that German antenna from WWII don’t flex. They only bend from the base.

The antenna was a hollow pipe type affixed to a base. It was 2 meters long and tapered to a tip. The necessary flexibility not to break the rod through snagging was supposed to be provided by the rubber base.

Here’s one type of a base example…
