Ford has not used “Ford Engine Blue”, on its engines for about 25 years. Most of the engine blocks are Ford Engine Gray or black. As for race cars each team has its own taste. I have seen the recent Trans Am team cars and the engine blocks are black. Everything else is aluminum, literally.
So, depending on the vintage of your Mustang, and the race team, you could very well paint the engine Ford engine blue. Testers Model Master paints has the earlier Ford Corporate Blue engine paint, and the lighter shade of Ford Engine Blue used from about 1954 up through the 1970s. A Mustang would most certainly have the lighter shade of blue because they did not go into production until 1964…
on most of the NASCAR models I have done, the engine(block, heads, intake manifold and exhaust pipes) and transmission is all aluminum. The bellhousing is usually steel. Good luck with the build and send pics when done
