R-M 1/48 P-61 windows question

So, I finished up a couple P-61’s a while back, but I never got around to putting the glass on. Doing that now, but the instructions and my references don’t seem to show details on how certain windows attach to the airplane.

In particular, the smaller side access windows to the side of the gunner (2nd seat), and the radar operator in back. On the real aircraft, are these hinged in some way to the main canopy? Or, are they removed entirely and set aside when the need requires it? What is the latching and retaining mechanism like? Help a brotha out?

Thanks!

Chris

Seen it modeled two ways… Canopy section hinged up or down… My ref photos ( Wings of Fame) show only the pilot’s top section open (hinged to open to the left) though, so it’s anyone’s guess as to which way the gunner and R/O sections worked, but they were hinged… I’ve never been in a P-61 'pit, so I can’t tell ya about latch/locking mechs…

Maybe you can find something in Here:

Oh, there we go.

Looks like in that restoration they hinged the rear one downwards. Guess I’ll do the front one that way too.

Thanks Hammer!
