R/C Me 109 project first pics

ok here are the first pics. as you can see the kit ccomes with very few pieces.(less RC hardware the AC is only 6 main pieces so i have little to work with.)
however i feel the end result can still over come alot of obstacles. some basic problems are : FIT alot of filler going to be needed to mate the pieces so they look as good as they can. SURFACE the foam looks like foam with all the little holes and divits youd find in a foam packing box from say a stereo or TV. however im going to give it all i have. i bought a wonderful book on me109Es from the battle of britain called luftwaffe colors V2section 1 “jagdwaffe” put out by classic publications of Great Britain, and have settled on a nice scheme of paint based on JG 27 circa mid august 1940 (yellow nose and tail camo pattern in high demarcation mix of rlm 02/71 with rlm 65 sides and a mottleing of rlm 02 applied as camoflage) the aircraft will be a fictional one as i will have to make do with those markings the kit came with . anyway here are the pics you can see what im up against

again feel free to sound off on any thoughts or ideas. i REALLY need a way to mask the foam for painting without having the masking tear off any underlying paint when its removed

That will be an interesting subject to follow…!

thanks ill try to post pics of each stage. right now im waiting on the arrival of the radio gear since that must be installed before i can mate the two fusalage halves together and begin painting

hey gothiq i do RC too, email me id love to chat !

looks like you have your work cut out for you. keep us updated.

joe

as for your masking problem, id suggest making paper masks and then attaching it with as litttle tamiya masking tape as possible. just use maskign tape on the edges, not the whole area. this way less paint gets peeled off, and you can workt he tape off slooooowly [:D]

Looks like an ambitous project. Good luck on the build.
