OK, there was a site or a post here (don’t remember) where people were showing their benches. I saw several pads that were over people’s work areas. I was recently strolling through the craft/ sewing area of Walmart and saw the same dang thing. It was for quilting (hate to hit yer manhood on this one, guys) the thing was awesome. It had reference measurements on it. It was like a cutting board, but it had a ruler printed on it. Unfortunately, it only had inch and cm measurements on it. Has anyone seen one with mm? If you know me, you know I hate fractions and prefer metric, but I need one with mm’s on it. Does anyone know what I’m talking about and have you seen one with mm scale on it?

They’re self healing cutting boards. My wife has a couple in her sewing room. Graphic artists (old school, not computer jockeys) used to use them for doing “cut & paste” work. So you can find the same thing in a place that sells art supplies. You can try places llike Office Depot, Koenigs, Staples, etc.
Because the measurement scales are screenprinted on, and the surface is a difficult one to print on, mm is too fine a scale to try and print. In most cases the scaling on some of these cutting boards can be as heavy as a a couple of mm just becuase of ink bleed or ink gain from printing.
Though there may be a brand out there that has mm, I wouldn’t put too much reliance on how accurate the scale is. Your best bet would probobly be to buy one of the cutting boards and keep a good, etched or machined metal scale handy. You can use it for other things and the machine or etched scales are pretty accurate.

Good points:
- mm & cm markings (no imperial markings though)
- circle diameters (5mm ~ 50mm in 5mm increments)
- Ankle indicators from 0~180 with 30, 45, 60, 90, 120 135, 150 premarked.
- Grid markers for 1, 2, 3, 5 mm grids
Nothing really special I have seen tons of similar cutting mats in the arts supply section, sizes up to A1.
Any idea how to order from Wave outside of Japan?
Your best bet will be to order either via Hobbby Link Japan or Rainbow 10.
Wave like most japanese companies don’t deal directly with people from outside of japan, the few that did got burned badly(Fewture, Kaiyodo, Volks, etc.)
Also most japanese companies don’t have english speakers, nor a system in place to handle overseas payments(most of them are a LOT smaller than you would think).
