Were there any Panzer IV AusfD’s at Kursk in 1943 that still had the standard German gray scheme, or had they all been painted in the camo? Probably no way to prove anything in either direction, but is it possible there were some?
Zeta,
First let me extend a [#welcome].
I was looking through the Squadron book on the Panzer 4 and it looks like most D’s were in Russia in 1941 /42.
I’m sure the Panzer guys will be a long shortly and give you a more definitive answer, but to venture a guess, I’d say no.

If i had to bet, then I’d say yes. Remember that Kursk was a HUGE offensive and there was bound to be a D out there…
Welcome to FS forums Zeta.

Thanks for the welcome.
Could they all have been destroyed or re-deployed? There had to be at least a few mixed in there somewhere.
I’d like to know this because I’ve got a diorama in the works, and wanted it take place during the Kursk offensive. I only realized after I’d bought the kit that there might not have been any Panzer IV’s around during the Kursk offensive. Ah well, I guess this time I can let historical accuracy slip.
i don t think they r panzerIV D in krusk …D already phrase out in mid 1942 as most of them covert into F1/F2 version … I guess u see PanzerIII N with 75mm gun in krusk which u might confuse with IV D …btw most of the vehicle in krusk r three or two tone camon… But i do see b4 fresh panther with dark yellow Before
Sorry to be rude mate, Im having a little trouble understanding your post.
Dave
I have seen pictures of a Green/Yellow PZ IVD in Normandy '44 so it is possible for them to have been at Kursk
