Quick question for the experts.....can anyone please identify these?

My wife snapped these during our last trip to Vancouver. I’m fairly sure the top pic is an E8 but I need to check with the gurus as this is for an upcoming GB. Thanks. [tup]

Top one is an M4A3E8–76mm main gun, HVSS suspension.

Second tank is a Canadian Ram. I remember Lone Star Models did an old school resin conversion. I think Verlinden does a conversion still. Notice the British Crusader style machine gun turret in the hull.

Thanks much Rob! Looks like I have a few choices for the E8, depending on which scale I choose to model. Dragon Kit No’s. 6283 or 7302 look like they would foot the bill nicely.

I’ll check and see if I can find those conversion sets you mentioned for the Ram. What would you recommend I use as the base kit for that?

The old Lone Star kit used the old Nichimo (or Nitto?) M4A1 kit. The Verlinden Ram uses the Tamiya M3 Grant or Lee. Both are OOP, better chance of finding the Verlinden kit. There may be newer conversions for it available.

Thanks again Rob. I have an unbuilt Tamiya M3 Grant in my stash, so I’ll use that as my base kit and see what else turns up in my web searches.

Knowing that those were taken in Vancouver, then the top picture is an M4A2 HVSS 76mm. The Canadians got tons of these.

Also for an accurate Ram, you can backdate the Formations Ram OP resin kit.

Verlinden used to sell Resin RAM conversion. There was a photo of it on FSM few months ago and was done by Douglas Lee (he is very well known modeler in asia and used to be the chief editor of modeling magazine in Korea for 10 years) and also had an article about his experience building one. He said he felt like he scratch built most of it due to problems with the conversion kit. I believe name of the diorama that he built was called “Damn colonials”.
