There are systems in the turret, IBAS and CIV. It allows both the commander and gunner to view the warzone independant from each other, but at any given time, the commander can override the turret and take control. When he overrides, his screen will switch from CIV to IBAS, and he should see things exactly the way I see it, the problem is, his screen is way out of whack in terms of contrast and crap.
The mechanics say it’s not a big issue, but I know for a fact that he should be seeing the same exact thing I do. I need some references to prove that there is something wrong with it and it must be checked out. I’m not about to go to Iraq if we can’t see.
Anyway, more questions. What kind of grease am I suppose to use for the track tension? The red one, the black one, or the peanut butter colored one?
Which antifreeze am I suppose to use, green or purple? I see green in the Bradley, but POL handed me a 5 gallon can of purple antifreeze.
I would suggest going to the Bradley -10 and -20 Manuals that you should have within your company. -10 is the Operator Level Maintanance Manual, -20 is the Unit Level Maintanance Manual. Also, go see your PLT SGT, PLT LDR, MTR SGT, Co XO, etc. for more guidance. I would not be looking for answers to an actual Bradley problem or service data on a modeling site. There are a few of us here who are in the military and work with this type of equipment daily, but most have never seen a Bradley in the flesh and don’t know that kind of details about them.
rgr that heavy, i just know both you and Rob would possibly have the answers, figured i would ask here before anywhere else
thanks
Sounds like you have an A3?
Just keep putting the CIV problem down on the 2404/5988E each time you get it. Eventually the BMO will have his attention attracted to this deficiency if it stays on there (Be sure to take it up your chain too)
I’ve not seen a difference between the different colours of grease. We used both interchangably on our tanks.
I agree, this is something of an odd site to ask that question on.

Kind of makes one wonder about who is training these guys, doesn’t it?
Having commanded one of the schools that produced 45B (armament repairer), I take offense in that statement. If you read DOW’s profile (where I noticed he will be a 45B), he hasn’t been to basic yet let alone AIT. I think he’s trying to ooh and ahh us about his knowledge of the Brad. Most of what he’s talking about would be identified by the vehicle crew and reported to the battalion maintenance team. The vast majority of repair to a Bradley is done by the 63M MOS (old 63T, 45T and some skills from the 63H), not the 45B.
Sorry ,[sigh] I didn’t realize you were that sensitive. Besides, the young man seemed to have knowledge that would infer that he or someone around him has experience. High school kids usually don’t have that kind of terminology on the tip of thier tongue. In any event I was referring to his immediate chain of command, not some school.
Thank you for the lecture on the proper way to report issues in the chain. I enjoyed it in its entire irrelevance.
The statement that he was “not going to Iraq” was the focal point of my reply, the inference being that someone would put him in harms way due to some purposeful defect in the vehicle system.
Rob, this wasn’t my question…i have a friend in 13F, he asked me what i thought he should do about the contrast thing…i just copied and pasted.
I’m not trying to be someone i’m not, so if it came off that way i apologize. i’m definetaly NOT trying to “ooh and ahh” you guys. I know that for a fact you guys have alot more knowledge of this stuff than i do, hence the me comming and asking you guys.
And “Kind of makes one wonder about who is training these guys, doesn’t it?” is just such a nice relavant statement in itself. I wasn’t looking to get into a flame war with you and even saw your initial response before you edited to take yet another shot at me. Nice to know where you stand with people.
I don’t understand this reply. Thought you were a pretty good guy, fellow 60 tanker and such. Didn’t think you’d be the type to resort to personal attacks. Guess I was wrong.
Well Rob, I don’t really want to personally attack you. For whatever reason, we’re both upset . My suggestion is we both just ignore it and move forward. Lingering on it will just prove how foolish two strong personalities can really get.

Steve
