Hello,
I am new to this forum. I have been painting 28mm figures for many years and have only recently started to work on larger figures like 120mm and a like.
My question is this; I have seen the term preshaping the model used around the forum and I was wondering, what does this mean?
Thanks for your time.

I think you may be referring to preshading. This a technique that is used on aircraft, where you airbrush a dark color on to all the panel lines before you apply the base coat. It’s a subtle effect that helps to bring out the panel lines and make them more visible. I’m not sure if people do this in other areas of modeling such as ships or tanks.

Thanks Darren,
After reading your reply I think that you may be right preshading as apposed to preshaping. It makes sense. thanks again.
